| Updated: May 29, 2022 06:40

Gujarat, the land of adorable people, mouth-watering food, and great hospitality, is hot to trot for the IPL grandeur. The Gujarat Titans’ slogan is aava de which means let it come.

But it is not just cricket that the Gujaratis love. It is also the politics associated with the IPL finals that are driving the spirit of Gujaratis. Not just cricket lovers, every Gujarati is excited about the IPL that is going to be the finale of Rajasthan

Royals and Gujarat Titans.

Gujarat Titans are playing its first-ever finals on its home turf which is exciting Gujaratis. The world’s biggest stadium is named after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and PM Modi will be there to watch the match.

All tickets have been sold off but Gujaratis being Gujaratis are trading off their tickets and the extra ones they bought at high rates. “This is not blackmailing, this is business”, Smit Shah (name changed on request) told Vibes of India claiming that he had purchased 10 tickets at Rs Rs 14,000 each and people were now ready to buy it for Rs 50,000 and Rs 65,000 also.

Over one lac people are expected to attend the IPL finals tonight. However, most of the six crore population of Gujarat is cheering for Gujarat Titans, though ironically the IPL team belongs to a British entity.

The IPL 2022 witnessed 70 matches, many with surprise endings. The victory graph of the reigning champions Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings plunged, even after securing a position in the playoffs. While the immaculate teams, Gujarat Titans and Lucknow SuperGiants, performed spectacularly.

The Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals will face off in the IPL 2022 Final. Rajasthan Royals, the winner of the first IPL series in 2008, are ready to ‘Phir Halla Bol.’ But, no matter what, the IPL 2022 is another level high for Gujaratis 2022. Here are some reasons why!

Narendra Modi to visit Narendra Modi Stadium

IPL 2022 finals have become an extravaganza with reports of PM Modi most likely to be attending the final match. Of course, this is the first time Narendra Modi stadium is hosting an IPL finale.

Gujarat’s crazy after Gujarat Titans

The Gujarat Lions, the Rajkot-based team, failed to meet the expectations of Gujaratis and flunked in IPL 2016 and 2017. It left the Gujarati cricket enthusiasts craving another that represents the state with pride and responsibility. In the past five years of the Indian Premier League, there has been no representation of Gujarat. The Gujarat Titans brought a ray of hope for the forbidden state. Not only this, but they proved to be the most substantial team out of all. The GT has won the hearts of Gujaratis with its out-of-the-ordinary performance.

More on Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans owner CVC Capital Partners is a British private equity and investment firm, whose total assets are worth over $75 billion. CVC Capital Partners’ foundation stones were laid by the popular banking firm Citicorp, which wanted to establish an investment firm. Although Citicorp’s venture capital investments started in 1968, CVC Capital Partners as a separate entity was formed in 1981.

Over the years, it became one of the biggest investment firms in Europe and expanded its wings in Asia as well. Some notable names take shelter under the CVC group, including popular IT security company “Avast”, luxury watch-makers Breitling SA, one of Britain’s leading automobile companies “RAC” and pet supplies retail chain “Petco”.

They seemed adamant to be involved with the Indian Premier League once the BCCI opened tenders, and made an INR 5,625 crore bid to seal the deal. However, there was a major stumbling block that needed to be cleared before the Ahmedabad franchise could start any of its early operations.

Tipico, a world-renowned sports betting and gambling organization is a portfolio company of CVC Capital Partners.

Raining Celebrities

Cricket, a religion for Indians, unites two other religions together, politics and Bollywood, with IPL 2022. It will be a wholesome experience for cricket fans across the country. They are likely to see veteran leaders like Amit Shah and Bhupendra Patel and celebrities like Aamir Khan and Ranveer Singh under one roof. The legendary singer and Oscar winner, AR Rahman, will also grace the match. Eyes are on the fact whether Gautam Adani and family will be watching the match. Since Mumbai Indians is already out of the competition, the Ambanis may not fly down for the finals but people are still expecting all Gujju businemen across India to grace the IPL finals being held for the first time in Gujarat.

IPL politics

Most Gujaratis want Gujarat Titans to win because they are playing on the home turf and Hardik Pandya, the captain is a big glamour name in Gujarat.

However, it is interesting to note that the match is being played in Narendra Modi stadium. Gujarat is a BJP-run State and goes for crucial Assembly elections this year. Ironically, Gujarat Titans will be facing Rajasthan Royals. Though politics is beyond all isms, ideologies and politics, it is striking to note that Rajasthan is a Congress-ruled state. The Gujarat in-charge of Congress Dr. Raghu Sharma is from Rajasthan. Modi lovers are betting that Gujarat Titans will first win the IPL final and then six months later BJP shall win Gujarat.

Tomorrow, let us watch how many Congressmen and women turn up to watch the match.
