The ABVP (Akhil Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad ), the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh- affiliated student wing, has given a memorandum to the collector seeking cancelation of Vir Das’s comedy show in Vadodara city scheduled for 17th June. There are protests from the student union and Youtuber Shubham Mishra that Vir Das’s show named “Wanted”, should not take place because of its anti-Indian content. They have also threatened to get more aggressive in their protests if the show continues to be conducted. The booking for online tickets for the show has already begun by the way.
ABVP leader Vraj Bhatt commented that despite being an Indian, Comedian Vir Das had bad-mouthed India, made cheap jokes about women in the name of comedy, and insulted the country at a point when India is progressing into a world leader. He went ahead to declare that by no means will he be permitted to perform in the city of art and temple of education. I.e, Vadodara, after his antics.
Officials have revealed that it is not in their bounded duty to call off a private event, but the ABVP’s representation has been accepted. Comedian Vir Das is also expected to perform in Ahmedabad, Surat among other cities of Gujarat.
