In a recent step to keep an eye on the garbage dumpers and absenteeism of the sanitation staff, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is all set to launch a newly developed app to locate the garbage and sanitation-related issues.
The new application will be equipped with a fieldwork monitoring module, an instant m-challan for the garbage litterers, a module for registering complaints and a GPS-based attendance system for the civic body’s sanitation staff.
During the last few years, the citizens in Ahmedabad have registered around 14,916 complaints regarding the irregularities of AMC’s sanitation staff in cleaning roadside garbage and 28,216 complaints regarding irregularities in the door-to-door collection of garbage from the apartments and societies. Other complaints included choking of the drainage system and misfunctioning of streetlights, followed by most citizens complaining about solid waste management in the city.
To deal with these issues and complaints, the civic body has launched and announced several other applications, some of which are in use and others still under development.
