AICC Asks Gujarat Congress MLAs To Reach Delhi Today Morning

| Updated: June 22, 2022 08:38

The All-India Congress Committee (AICC) has asked the party MLAs from Gujarat to reach Delhi on Wednesday. This comes amidst the ongoing protests against the Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioning the Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi and also against the ‘Agnipath’ scheme implemented across the country by the central government.

Congress MLA Shailesh Parmar on Tuesday said that “We have been asked by the AICC to reach Delhi by Wednesday morning. We will be given the information regarding the program tomorrow morning.”

The deputy leader of the opposition in the assembly added that following the directions from the high command in Delhi, the majority of the total 64 MLAs are all set to visit the country’s capital.

This call from the AICC might be in the purview of the upcoming assembly elections in Gujarat too.

The Congress in Gujarat has been holding protests against the “fabricated” interrogation of the Party leader Rahul Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a case related to money laundering.

Besides Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Sonia Gandhi was too sent summons twice before the next due date of June 23 in the same case of money laundering. However, Sonia Gandhi did not appear in front of the ED citing her ill health.

However, the grand old party has accused the central government of “misusing” the constitutional and investigative agencies to target the opposition leaders, which they stated to be a political stunt.
