The AMC sealed McDonald’s outlet in the Sola area of the city after a picture of a dead lizard in the cold drink the outlet served went viral on social media. Taking the complaint filed by Bhargav Joshi into consideration AMC Food Safety Officer Devang Patel took samples of the cold drinks from the outlet to the public health laboratory in the city for testing. The outlet has been sealed immediately for public well being and has been ordered not to reopen without prior permission.
Later McDonald’s stated in a press release that “At McDonald’s, we are dedicated to safeguarding the health and safety of all of our customers.” Quality, service, cleanliness, and value are key to our operations. Furthermore, as part of our Golden Guarantee program, we have implemented 42 strict safety and hygiene regulations throughout all of our McDonald’s restaurants, which include, among other things, tight processes for frequent kitchen and restaurant cleaning and sanitization. We are investigating the claimed event that occurred at the Ahmedabad outlet. While we have checked numerous times and discovered nothing improper, we are cooperating with authorities as a responsible business citizen.”
