Vastrapur Police, Ahmedabad, has arrested three bootleggers for supplying alcohol illegally in an autorickshaw. They had hidden the liquor bottles inside the driver’s seat. During the search, the cops found 25 bottles of foreign liquor made in India from the autorickshaw.
The three apprehended are Baldev Makwana, Ankit Parmar, and Keval Chauhan. According to Ramesh Mangal, the complaint head, they received a tip about a suspicious autorickshaw at the Sindhu Bhavan Road. The state monitoring cell cop informed the media that they located a locked box with 25 bottles of IMFL (Indian-made foreign liquor) inside. More information on the case is awaited.
In the past few days, incidents of cops finding liquor have taken a rise in dry Gujarat. The Banaskantha police confiscated 17 cartons of liquor from the vehicle of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ahmedabad Crime Investigation Department, on June 4. In May 2022, Vadodara police also destroyed liqour worth ₹1.97 crores near Kotali village. As per the sources, the Vadodara police confiscated around 84k bottles in the last two years. Not only alcohol, but the drug smuggling has also seen an upsurge. In May 2022, the Surat cops confiscated a truck loaded cannabis. Thus, the police have to percolate further into the case.
