G20 Summit Under India’s Presidency: Gujarat Covets To Host Key Events

Gujarat Government has eyes on hosting key G20 Summit Global Forum events, as India will host the extravaganza in December 2022. Earlier in June, a G20 envoy discussed with a panel of officials the possibility of Gujarat hosting key events. India’s presidency of the global forum is a golden chance for Gujarat.

Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar led the Gujarat Government’s top officials. They also met the Ministry of External Affairs, who briefed them about India’s role in hosting key G20 Summit events. The Group of Twenty events will happen from 1st December 2022 to 30th November 2023.

According to the speculations, Gujarat might get a chance to host key G20 meetings like a leader’s summit or a conference of ministers. Sources also say that the industries and mines department is responsible for coordinating with the G20 secretariat. Administration shall choose coordinators and officers amongst people who have extensive experience in managing the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS).

G20 Summit consists of globally developed and developing economies holding 85% of global GDP and 75% of international trade. Moreover, these nations are the primary medium for international economic cooperation.

On 1st December 2021, India joined the G20 troika of past, present, and future presidencies, Italy, Indonesia, and India. Further, India is working invariably with Indonesia and Italy to prop the G20 agenda.

Member nations of the G20 Summit are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union.

G20 sports a crucial role in providing structure to the global architecture and governance on all economic issues. It also reflects that global prosperity is interdependent and recognises that economic opportunities and challenges are interconnected.

G20 countries have assembled for a better future. Co-founder of G20 Summit, India, consistently contributed to its summits on global issues, specifically the vulnerable ones.
