Gujarat: 204 Centers Will Start For Vehicle Fitness Test In April

In Gandhinagar, the meeting of the council of ministers was held today under the chairmanship of the chief minister, an important decision was taken under the Vehicle Scrap Policy. 

After this meeting, state government spokesperson Rushikesh Patel said that 204 fitness centres will be started in the state. Currently, three centres are running. The remaining 201 centres will be started from next April.

This policy was to reduce the pollution level in the country and keeping in mind the safety of the people, the Central Government announced the launch of the ‘Voluntary Vehicle Scrapping Policy’ in the budget for the financial year 2021-22.

No government department will use vehicles older than 15 years, according to the government’s plan. At the same time, people will be unable to use private or commercial vehicles that are more than 20 years old. Along with this, an automatic fitness test will be required after 15 years of vehicle use. It will display the vehicle’s status. In addition, if the vehicle fails this test, the vehicle owner is subject to a heavy fine.
