Gujarat Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS), in another successful operation, busted a huge drugs racket in Ahmedabad, where the trafficker was using packaging from Amazon to sell and deliver the narcotics. When the authorities raided a residential property in Vastrapur area on June 7, they found drugs worth lakhs of rupees and uncovered an intelligent web of deceit that had remained undetected until now.
Inside the house, the officials found 19.85 grams of Amphetamine, 60.53 grams of opioid derivatives, 321.52 grams of charas, and 3.235 kg of ganja, valued at Rs8.28 lakh. They also tracked down the operations to a man named Aakash Vinjahava, an electronics and communication engineer, who had come to Ahmedabad with the dreams of becoming a successful businessman. Vinjahava is originally from Rajula. In his pursuit of wealth, Vinjahava was led towards the path of drugs and drug trafficking.
Following a couple of failed business ventures, Vinjahava decide to build his own e-commerce website which he registered as selling ghee and other consumer products. This website became his front for trafficking drugs. Later on, this website was registered with Amazon, using false documents and portfolios.
As such, Vinjahava started using Amazon packaging to deliver drugs. Later on, to avoid inquiry, he tracked down the seller of Amazon packaging and bought it directly from him. In this way, he avoided getting caught.
The drug business grew and when he started getting bigger orders, Vinjahava brought in Nana Vagh alias Karan from Rajula. So far, narcotics worth Rs13 crores have been sold through the e-commerce website. It was discovered that he used to send money to drug suppliers in MP, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan.
The authorities have taken Vinjahava into custody and put him on remand. They are still on the lookout for Nana Vagh.
Amazon has been unaware of the deeds that Vinjahava had been carrying out.
