A heinous act has come to light in Gujarat’s Gir Somnath district. A married man, a father of two, is facing kidnapping and rape charges for sexually assaulting and murdering an eight-year-old. According to the complaint, he raped the girl in his residence and murdered her. He then dumped her body on the outskirts of Jantrakhadi village. On Sunday, the police arrested the accused.
The court will take the initial hearing on Monday evening. Meanwhile, the police are trying to hasten the trial to convict the man. The cops also want to ensure that the accused receives the maximum sentence, says the IANS report.
In a statement given to the police, the villagers mentioned that the little girl was going to the market on Sunday morning to purchase something. Afterward, the accused kidnapped her, brought her to his place, and raped her. Possibly, he placed his hand on her mouth to prevent her from screaming. But, in his attempt to hide her cries from the neighbours, the accused suffocated her to death.
Afterward, he abandoned her corpse in a sack on the village periphery. When the people searched for the girl, they discovered her dead body. Assistant Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Jat said in a statement that his team, including DSP Manoharsinh Jadeja, immediately reached the village when they received the information. Later, they apprehended the accused on the same evening.
The forensic team confirmed that they collected enough evidence from the man’s residence. The police also recorded the man’s statement and submitted the victim’s body for postmortem. Further, a doctor will also examine the accused. The police are waiting for the examination results.
