Number Of Telecom Subscribers Sees M-o-M Rise March 2022

| Updated: May 19, 2022 13:45

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), recently, revealed that the total number of telecom subscribers in Gujarat increased by nearly 3.09 lakh in March 2022, standing at 6.73 crore, as compared to nearly 6.67 crore in the month of February.

However, this marked a slight dip as compared to 7.03 crore in July 2021. Key reason for this drop is said to be higher tariffs, which have increased by 20% since December last year. This rise in tariffs has forced people to give up additional connections and move to cheaper alternatives.

Inflation in other industries, especially that in essential commodities like food and food products as well as services like healthcare and transport has also led to people cutting expenses in telecom services.

Nevertheless, with tariffs going up and other factors, telecom companies’ average revenue per user (ARPU) has risen 5.6% in the quarter ending December 2021 quarter as compared to the previous quarter.
