The Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday apprehended two Pakistani fishermen near the India-Pakistan border in Gujarat’s Kutch district. Both Pakistani fishermen were apprehended after a chase in which they were shot in the ankle while attempting to flee to Pakistan, according to a BSF statement issued late Friday night.
“BSF Bhuj apprehended two Pakistani fishermen from the Harami Nala area today as part of an ongoing search operation that began on June 23, 2022. Both received ankle bullet wounds while attempting to flee to Pakistan “it said.
The BSF patrol party observed the movement of Pakistani fishing boats in the Harami Nala area while patrolling on Thursday, it said.
“The patrol party immediately rushed to the spot and seized nine Pakistani fishing boats from various locations in the Harami Nala area,” the statement said, adding that Pakistani fishermen managed to flee and were hiding in the area, which spans more than 300 square kilometres.
The BSF said it continued the search and cordoned off the entire area, blocking all possible escape routes to the neighbouring country.
The patrol team issued a challenge to the fleeing Pakistani fishermen. However, because they did not stop, the BSF troops were forced to use force to apprehend both of them, according to the statement.
