Cyber Attacks Flood The Internet Amid Political Heat Between Nations

| Updated: July 8, 2022 18:57

Recently, the world saw examples of hacker organisations engaging in extensive and full-fledged cyber warfare. Russian hackers devastated Ukraine’s vital digital infrastructure, including its financial systems, state treasury, and national electrical grids, when Russia invaded the country.

Following the Nupur Sharma scandal, the Malaysian Dragon Force and the Indonesian Garuda hacktivists called on Muslim hackers to launch a cyberwar against India and the Indian people. The appeal to start the Cyber-War, extensively disseminated, was an initiative of the hacker organisations in India.

According to the reports, activists from Garuda in Indonesia and Dragon ForceIO in Malaysia claim to have gained access to 2000+ Indian websites, including those of the government, educational institutions, businesses, and industries. Such websites have exposed confidential information, including information like:

  • Government Files and Data
  • Aadhaar cards of some persons
  • Pancard and Passport details of some citizens
  • Details of Policemen of Andhra Pradesh Police
  • DishTV data

On June 9, the One Times8 News Channel got hacked, and the hackers displayed a Pakistani flag on live television.

Assam-based news channel ‘TIME8’ also claimed that their YouTube account was hacked in a live stream by a Pakistan-based hacking group identified as ‘Revolution PK’.

The hackers also leaked the ID Card and Personal details of the Andhrapradesh Police Officers. Further, they made the details of Nupur Sharma, including her address, email id, and contact number, public.

Hacker portals have made many internal government databased public. Moreover, numerous PAN cards, passports, and Aadhar cards also went public. The groups disclosed the login information of an Indian VPN service. Dish TV details and the Thane Police website also became victims of the cyber attack.
