Gujarat Chief Minister (CM) Bhupendrabhai Patel on Sunday sanctioned Rs 550 crore to meet the demands of the state police personnel. Under Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi’s chairmanship, a committee discussed their welfare demands.
The CM, in a tweet, announced Rs 550 crore for the welfare of the police officers and their families. This decision solved the 10-month-long grade pay issue of the police department. Even this issue took a heated political turn with recent pro-police announcements by Aravind Kejriwal.
Sanghvi also announced this decision at Surat Police Bhavan- Commissioner’s office. He said that the Chief Minister constituted a committee on October 28, 2021, to discuss the demands of the police officers. Separate meetings were held with Zonal and Chief Police officers of Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot and Vadodara divisions.
