In a late-night incident in the Gomtipur area of Ahmedabad, two youths were shot at. Firing incidents are not common in Gujarat and the occurrence of such incident expose the weakening of law and order in the city.
Hitesh Vaghela, a 24-year-old youth, was shot in Gomtipur. initially, he was immediately taken to LG Hospital for treatment late at night. However, since he received two bullet wounds in the head, his condition worsened. The bullet shots having the brain damaged, he was shifted to Civil for further treatment
The incident is related to personal enmity. The accused fled the scene immediately after firing the shot. Gomtipur is located on the eastern part of the city, on the other side of the rail tracks. Ahmedabad, once known as Manchester of India was housing thousands of mill workers on the suburbs lying between railway track and NH 8. Once prosperous, this part of the city saw the economic and social decline after early eighties wit the changing fortunes of the mills.
