Mayursinh Jadhav, a 20-year-old farmer from Ogan in Viramgam taluka has lodged a police complaint that another villager, Mahendra Bharwad, and seven others attacked him for honking at cows sitting on a road.
As per the complaint, Jadhav and his mother Ranjanben were returning from a temple in his car. When they reached a road blocked by a herd of sitting cows and were unable to get past, he began honking at the cows. This offended the owner of the cows Bharwad enough to attack Jadhav.
Jadhav said that Bharwad began abusing him when he told him to take proper care of his cows and ensure they do not block public roads. Bharwad then called other men from his community and smashed the car’s windows and then hit him with sticks.
The FIR stated that the group of men attacked Jadhav’s mother also when she tried to protect him. A complaint has been filed under IPC sections 147 (punishment for rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 323 (causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of 50 rupees).
