Satish Shah Responds To Racism At London Airport

| Updated: January 4, 2023 15:52

Veteran actor Satish Shah has claimed that London’s Heathrow airport staff member made racial comments to him. The actor said that he responded to the staff member’s racial slur by saying, “Because we are Indians.”

According to the “Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai” actor, the airport staff asked his colleague in a perplexed manner how Shah was able to afford first-class travel on Tuesday. “I replied with a proud smile ‘because we are Indians’ after I overheard the Heathrow staff wonderingly asking his mate how can they afford 1st class?” Shah tweeted on Tuesday.

On social media, the actor’s unverified handle tweet went viral and received over 12,000 likes and 1,300 retweets. More than 45,000 people follow the veteran’s account.

One of the busiest international airports, London Heathrow, issued an apology to Shah on Twitter and requested more information on the incident. “Good morning, we’re sorry to hear about this encounter. May you DM us?” they tweeted.

Shah received praise from many social media users for his poised reaction. “We are Indians, it’s enough for them to explain everything. If the British had not ruled us for 200 years, then perhaps England would have been a colony of ours today,” a netizen wrote.
