Management’s negligence was responsible for the horrendous fire break out at Shreya hospital of Navrangpura area in Ahmedabad – read the investigation report tabled in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly on September 28.
A commission was appointed to investigate the incident and it has now come to light that the management’s negligence was the cause of fire. The dreadful incident took the lives of eight patients who were undergoing treatment for Covid.

The fire broke out at Shreya Hospital at around 3 pm in which eight people died instantly. The windows at the hospital were screwed off so the fire could not get out. The hospital’s ICU did not have smoke detectors and fire alarms were not fitted. Not only this, the automatic sprinkler system was also not provided. The inquiry commission has held the management of the hospital responsible. The hospital had a 15-year-old patient monitoring system. This system expires every five years so the system was even 10 years older than the expiration date.
