Torrent Group-Supported UNM Foundation Brings Iconic Art And Culture Project “Abhivyakti” To Bhuj

| Updated: July 11, 2025 17:27

One of India’s most admired and iconic art and culture projects, “Abhivyakti – The City Arts Project”, has expanded its wings to Kutch, with its first-ever Edition in the city of Bhuj.

An initiative by UNM Foundation – the philanthropic arm of Torrent Group’s Mehta Family, Abhivyakti will showcase four widely-admired performances with free entry to the art-loving citizens of Bhuj.

The two-day “Abhivyakti- Bhuj” will be organised during 12th July (Saturday) and 13th July (Sunday), 2025 with dazzling performances in the genres of theatre, dance and music at Town Hall in the city.

The performances to be showcased, are among some of the most-admired performances from Abhivyakti’s previous Editions held in Ahmedabad.

The performances on the first day, i.e. 12th July include Bharatnatyam dance performance titled “Narmapravah” by Khushi Langaliya. It is not just the story of a holy river – Narmada, but it is a saga of emotions depicted metamorphically through the life of a girl.

This performance will be followed by Spiritual Experimental theatre performance “Shunyavatar” by Priyank Upadhyay. The concept is a journey of an Individual, trying to un-layer the self and wake up from the sleep – he has always been choosing, the sleep of the consciousness.

On the second day, i.e. 13th July, the performances will include Experimental Modern Folk play by Anannya Vaidya titled “Vahi Kahani, Phir” and a Folk music performance “Shabad Parikrama” by Hardik Dave.

A collection of stories of women from all across India, “Vahi Kahani, Phir” is inspired by songs and folklore. In “Shabad Parikrama, Dave will pay tribute to the folk music of different states and nationalities.

The performances are curated by eminent art curators in each genre i.e. Bhargav Purohit in Music, Chirag Modi in Theatre and Jaimil Joshi in Dance. The mentors include celebrated names from the field of art – Rajat Dholakia (Music), Saumya Joshi (Theatre) and Maulik and Ishira (Dance).

Started in 2018 from Ahmedabad, Abhivyakti has now grown to be a regular feature in the art and culture field with performances held across three other cities of Gujarat including Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot. So far, across multiple editions, as many as 1979 artists from different parts of India have participated on this platform provided by UNM Foundation and has attracted more than 6.19 lakh art lovers to these performances as audience.

Abhivyakti’s Bhuj Edition is part of UNM Foundation’s efforts to promote and showcase various art forms by providing a platform to the emerging artists and enable audiences in different regions a free-of-cost access to art without the constraints of location or economic strata.
