Even as the Enforcement Directorate digs deeper after the arrest of deputy mamlatdar in Surendranagar in connection with alleged money laundering linked to corruption in land-used permissions, interesting details about how details were noted are coming out.
Deputy mamlatdar Chandrasinh Mori was arrested and district collector Rajendrakumar Patel was removed from the post.
According to a report in a vernacular daily, in the Rs 1,500 crore land scam, the ED has got a sheet in which names of the middlemen have been mentioned and some of the names are coded.
The report further says that the sheet mentions about a piece of land measuring 2,61,332 square meters. It clearly mentions a bribe of Rs 26,17,320 to change the land use pattern.
During interrogation, Mori is reported to have admitted to have taken bribes at the rate of Rs 10 per square meter. He has also reportedly confessed about the Collector’s direct involvement.
The sheet not only has the details about the bribes, it also has noting about who gets how much share.
The arrest of the deputy mamlatdar has become a talking point in the corridors of power and the grapevine is that names of some politicians could also come out in the near future.
