As NEET-related controversies continue to make headlines, fraudsters are now targeting worried students and parents with promises of guaranteed score improvements after the exam. A recent investigation has uncovered a network claiming it can manipulate OMR sheets and increase marks for NEET candidates in exchange for huge sums of money.
The scam came to light when a reporter posed as the parent of a NEET aspirant and contacted a person advertising such services through a messaging platform. The individual identified himself as “Aarav Singh” and claimed to be associated with an institute in Bengaluru.
According to the caller, students do not need to leave the examination hall early or avoid writing the exam. Instead, they are instructed to attempt the paper normally but leave some difficult questions unanswered. The fraudster claimed that an “internal network” would later fill in the unanswered responses on the candidate’s OMR sheet using a special code that could identify the sheet and its contents.
The caller promised a “guaranteed score enhancement” and demanded ₹20 lakh for the service. He asked for an initial payment of ₹50,000 as a “token fee” for document verification, while the remaining ₹19.5 lakh would be paid after the results were declared.
To proceed, the operator requested several personal documents, including:
Class 10 marksheet
Class 12 marksheet
NEET-UG 2026 acknowledgement receipt
Aadhaar card
Passport-size photograph
The fraudster insisted that the token amount be transferred online after the documents were verified.
To make the offer appear credible, he shared details of a Bengaluru office and asked the reporter to schedule an appointment. He claimed that admissions discussions under a management quota would take place there and promised further details during the meeting.
When asked how the score boost would be carried out, the caller repeatedly claimed that the candidate’s OMR sheet would be modified after the examination and the result would be updated accordingly. He assured that everything would be handled through their network.
The investigation found that several online channels are promoting similar claims. One such channel allegedly claimed to have collected ₹5.74 crore from nearly 7,900 individuals by exploiting fears and uncertainty surrounding NEET examinations.
Cybercrime officials have warned students and parents not to fall for such schemes. Ahmedabad Cyber Crime ACP Hardik Makadia said fraudsters are taking advantage of students by offering NEET papers and score enhancement services for money. He advised aspirants and their families to stay away from these scams and report suspicious activity immediately.
Authorities are currently examining multiple channels and online groups to determine whether they are connected to a larger interstate fraud network targeting medical aspirants across the country.
The case highlights how scammers are using the pressure of competitive exams to exploit students and parents. Officials have urged candidates to trust only official examination processes and avoid anyone claiming they can alter OMR sheets, leak papers, or guarantee admission through illegal means.
