The investigation into the murder of Ketan Agrawal has taken a new turn, with police now claiming that his fiancée, Siya Goyal, may have been leading a double life. According to reports, investigators suspect that Siya had secretly married her lover, Chetan Chaudhary, nearly four months before Ketan was pushed to his death from Lohagad Fort near Lonavala on June 18.
Police claim that while Siya appeared to be preparing for her wedding with Ketan, she was hiding another relationship from both families.
Police claim digital evidence revealed alleged secret marriage
According to reports, the alleged secret marriage came to light after investigators examined WhatsApp chats, call records, internet search history and location data recovered from the accused’s mobile phones.
Police are now trying to trace the couple’s marriage certificate to establish the sequence of events. Investigators are also attempting to recover deleted photographs from a private Instagram account that allegedly showed Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary wearing wedding garlands.
According to reports, two of Siya’s college friends allegedly signed as witnesses to the marriage.
Police claim that despite the alleged marriage, the couple kept it hidden from both families while wedding preparations with Ketan continued.
Siya continued wedding preparations with Ketan
According to reports, Siya continued to maintain regular contact with Ketan Agrawal and his family in the months leading up to his death.
Police claim she attended family gatherings, participated in wedding-related preparations, planned their November wedding in Rajasthan and even shared Instagram reels with Ketan, giving the impression that everything was normal.
According to reports, Ketan’s family had already begun making travel arrangements for relatives and friends attending the wedding and had requested Aadhaar details from Siya’s family to book tickets.
Snapchat message raises fresh questions
According to reports, investigators have also recovered a Snapchat message allegedly sent by Siya to one of her friends in May.
Police claim that in the message, she asked her friend to send an Aadhaar card for wedding travel bookings while also stating that the marriage would not happen. The message read:
“Send your Aadhaar card front and back side photo for tickets for the wedding, which is anyway not going to take place, but still do send it.”
According to reports, investigators are now questioning whether the friend had any prior knowledge of the alleged conspiracy.
Instagram tribute now under investigation
Police are also examining an Instagram Story posted by Siya on June 19, which was her birthday and one day after Ketan’s death. At that time, Ketan’s death had been registered as an accidental death after he reportedly fell nearly 400 feet into a gorge while taking photographs at Lohagad Fort. The Instagram post read:
“You left me on my birthday… u left when we were so close to getting married. I still can’t understand why you did this to me. I had dreams, questions I’ll never get answers to. Why did you leave me when I loved you so much? Rest in peace.”
It also reportedly included the Hindi line: “Mere dil ko pata hai ki tu yahi hai. Wapas aaja.”
According to reports, police are examining the post as part of the investigation. Investigators claim that, at the time, no one suspected foul play and the emotional tribute helped strengthen the belief that Ketan’s death was a tragic accident.
Police claim murder was planned in advance
According to reports, investigators believe the alleged murder may have been planned well before the incident. Police claim Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary allegedly rehearsed how to push Ketan off a cliff at an open space near a club in Lullanagar before the incident.
Investigators also claim that an earlier attempt to kill Ketan was allegedly made on June 14 at Lohagad Fort, but it failed.
Ketan had expressed doubts before his death
According to reports, after the June 14 visit to Lohagad Fort, Ketan returned home disturbed and questioned his father about whether Siya’s background had been properly verified before fixing the marriage.
Police claim Ketan had repeatedly expressed suspicion that Siya was involved in a relationship with someone else and had mentioned Chetan Chaudhary’s name several times during conversations with his family.
However, according to reports, Ketan’s father reassured him that there was likely nothing to worry about because the two families were related through common relatives.
Police arrest two accused
Police have arrested Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary in connection with the alleged murder of Ketan Agrawal.
According to reports, investigators are now trying to determine whether Siya and Chetan had secretly married months before Ketan’s death. Police believe the alleged secret marriage, continued engagement, wedding preparations and public expressions of grief may have concealed a parallel relationship that only came to light after investigators examined the accused’s digital records.
The investigation is ongoing, and the allegations made by police are yet to be tested in court. No court has determined the guilt or innocence of the accused at this stage.
