The Gujarat government has approved financial support for five space technology companies under the state’s Space Tech Policy 2025–30, marking an early step towards building a stronger space technology and manufacturing ecosystem in the state.
The support will be provided to Azista Space Systems, PierSight Space, Spantrik, Bharat Space Vehicles and ULEO Space (Orbit Space), according to senior government officials.
The government is also studying the feasibility of setting up a space launchpad at a technically suitable location in Gujarat, adding another major component to the state’s plans to expand its space sector.
Five Companies to Receive Government Support
The latest approvals are among the first to be made under the Space Tech Policy 2025–30.
The five companies that will receive state government support are:
Azista Space Systems
PierSight Space
Spantrik
Bharat Space Vehicles
ULEO Space (Orbit Space)
The companies are expected to be based at the proposed Space Tech Manufacturing Park at Khoraj near Ahmedabad.
The government envisions the park as an integrated cluster where companies can carry out activities such as satellite manufacturing, space electronics, assembly, integration and testing.
Gujarat Exploring a Space Launchpad
Alongside the financial assistance to space companies, the state government has intensified feasibility studies for establishing a space launchpad in Gujarat.
Officials are examining locations that are technically suitable for such a facility. If developed, a launchpad would further strengthen Gujarat’s position in India’s growing private space industry and could support future launch-related activities.
The move is part of a broader effort to create an ecosystem where space companies can conduct research, manufacture equipment and eventually commercialise their technologies within the state.
Space Tech Manufacturing Park Planned Near Ahmedabad
The proposed manufacturing park at Khoraj near Ahmedabad is expected to serve as a central hub for space-related businesses.
The planned facility will bring together different parts of the space technology supply chain, including:
Satellite manufacturing
Space electronics
Assembly
System integration
Testing facilities
The government believes that bringing these activities together can make it easier for space technology companies to develop and manufacture products while reducing the time and cost involved in taking new technologies from development to the market.
Major Space Institutions Already Based in Gujarat
Gujarat already has several important national institutions connected with India’s space programme.
These include the Space Applications Centre (ISRO-SAC), the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL) and the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe), all of which are based in Ahmedabad.
According to government officials, the presence of these institutions is being leveraged to create an integrated ecosystem for space research, manufacturing and commercialisation.
The idea is to bring government institutions, established companies, startups and smaller businesses closer together so that they can share technical knowledge, infrastructure and other resources.
Common Testing Facility Planned
Another important part of the proposed ecosystem is a Common Technical Facility Centre (CTFC).
The facility is proposed in collaboration with IN-SPACe and is expected to provide shared testing infrastructure and technical support to startups, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and established companies.
Having access to common testing infrastructure could help smaller companies avoid the high cost of setting up their own specialised facilities.
Officials said the proposed centre could help reduce development costs and shorten the time needed to bring new space technologies to the market.
Azista Already Started Work at the Park
Among the five companies receiving government support, Azista Space Systems has already acquired land at the proposed park.
The company has also started construction of its manufacturing facility.
The other companies — PierSight Space, Bharat Space Vehicles, Spantrik and Orbit Space — are also in the process of establishing their operations at the park.
The developments indicate that the proposed space manufacturing cluster is gradually moving from planning towards actual implementation.
More Companies Exploring Gujarat
Gujarat’s emerging space ecosystem is also attracting interest from other companies.
Companies such as Dhruva Space and Ananth Technologies are reportedly exploring investment opportunities in the state.
With government incentives, specialised infrastructure, research institutions and private companies coming together, Gujarat is seeking to establish itself as an important destination for India’s expanding private space industry.
The combination of financial support under the Space Tech Policy 2025–30, the proposed manufacturing park, shared testing facilities and studies for a possible launchpad is expected to give the state’s space sector a wider base for research, manufacturing, testing and commercialisation.
