Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) has reported a strong 37% year-on-year rise in energy sales during the first nine months of FY26, underlining its rapid scale-up and growing role in India’s clean energy transition.
The company’s performance was backed by aggressive capacity addition, high plant availability and the deployment of advanced renewable energy technologies, cementing its position as one of the world’s leading green power producers, a press release issued by the company on Friday said.
During 9M FY26, AGEL’s energy sales increased to 27,636 million units, driven by the commissioning of new capacities at resource-rich locations, including Khavda in Gujarat and sites in Rajasthan.
The sharp rise in generation translated into healthy financial growth, with revenue from power supply climbing 25% year-on-year to Rs 8,508 crore. EBITDA rose 24% to Rs 7,921 crore, while the company maintained an industry-leading EBITDA margin of 91.5%, reflecting strong operating efficiency.
In the third quarter alone, revenue from power supply grew 21% year-on-year to Rs 2,420 crore, while EBITDA increased 23% to Rs 2,269 crore. The consistent margins highlight the benefits of AGEL’s focus on large-scale projects, technology-led operations and disciplined cost management.
A key driver of this performance has been the company’s rapid expansion of operational capacity. AGEL’s installed renewable energy portfolio grew 48% year-on-year to 17.2 GW, putting it firmly on track to achieve its long-term target of 50 GW by 2030. In 9M FY26, the company added nearly 3 GW of greenfield capacity, accounting for over 90% of the capacity addition achieved in the entire previous financial year. On a calendar-year basis, greenfield additions stood at 5.6 GW, representing almost 14% of India’s total solar and wind capacity additions.
Much of this expansion has been anchored by AGEL’s flagship Khavda project in Gujarat, which is being developed as the world’s largest renewable energy plant. Spread over 538 square kilometres, the project already has an operational capacity of 7.7 GW across solar, wind and hybrid sources. The company is deploying advanced bifacial solar modules, trackers, high-capacity 5.2 MW wind turbines and waterless robotic cleaning systems to maximise generation and efficiency. AGEL aims to scale the Khavda facility to 30 GW by 2029, setting a global benchmark for ultra-large renewable projects.
Operational excellence has also played a crucial role in boosting output. AGEL’s operations and maintenance strategy leverages data analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning for real-time monitoring of plants through a centralised energy network operations centre. This approach has helped the company consistently exceed its power purchase agreement commitments, with generation in 9M FY26 reaching 79% of the annual contracted level within just nine months.
The company’s strong execution and sustainability focus have earned it global recognition. AGEL recently emerged as the world’s number one green utility in Energy Intelligence’s annual rankings and was named India’s top sustainability performer in the power generation sector for the second consecutive year by NSE Sustainability Ratings & Analytics. It has also strengthened its ESG credentials by adopting nature-positive frameworks and earning multiple awards for clean energy and water stewardship.
Commenting on the performance, AGEL CEO Ashish Khanna said the company’s rapid capacity addition, landmark projects and operational discipline have reinforced its leadership in renewable energy. With more than 27 billion units of clean electricity generated in nine months—enough to power a country the size of Azerbaijan for a year—AGEL continues to play a pivotal role in advancing India’s decarbonisation goals.
