The Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Ahmedabad Police’s Zone-4 on Thursday unearthed an alleged prostitution network masquerading as high-end spa services in the Naroda area, rescuing seven women during a coordinated operation, officials said.
The action followed precise intelligence inputs suggesting that two luxury spas near Haridarshan Chowkdi were being used as a front for illegal activities, according to media reports.
Acting on the tip-off, LCB teams raided Blue Heaven Luxury Spa and Little Cloud Luxury Spa, both situated on Arshivad Avenue, where unlawful operations were allegedly being conducted behind closed doors.
According to police, the women rescued during the raids were brought to Ahmedabad from outside Gujarat and coerced into the flesh trade. Investigators said the operation was being managed systematically under the guise of legitimate spa services, making it difficult to detect without prior information.
Officials said the breakthrough came after Police Sub-Inspector S. M. Patel of Zone-4 received credible inputs that the spa manager, along with his wife, was allegedly running the racket by sourcing women from other states. To verify the information, the police deployed decoy customers to the spas. Once the illegal activities were confirmed, LCB teams moved in and carried out simultaneous raids at both locations.
The police arrested the alleged mastermind, spa manager Dharmendra Singh Harvendra Singh, and his wife Kamaljit, who were residing in the Naroda area at the time of the raid. Investigators said the couple originally hails from Pandori Gola village in Tarn Taran district of Punjab.
Cases have been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the law, and further investigation is underway to identify other individuals linked to the operation. Police are also probing whether similar illegal activities were being run from other spa establishments in the city.
Officials added that steps are being taken to ensure the rehabilitation and safety of the rescued women, while efforts continue to trace the larger trafficking network allegedly exploiting women under the cover of spa businesses in Ahmedabad.
