Ambani, Adani Roll Out Fresh Investment Commitments For Gujarat

| Updated: January 14, 2026 12:35

“India’s decisive decade,” Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, said at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC), a phrase that framed the announcements shore up energy, technology, and manufacturing sectors.

That sense of scale ran through the conference, where a series of high-value investment commitments dominated proceedings, signalling strong corporate confidence in Gujarat’s growth trajectory and its readiness for the next phase of industrial expansion.

Ambani led the announcements with five major commitments, starting with a plan to double Reliance’s investment in Gujarat to Rs 7 trillion over the next five years, from Rs 3.5 trillion in the previous period. The investment builds on Reliance’s long presence in the state and marks a sharp acceleration in capital deployment.

According to reports, he said the investment would create large-scale employment, expand industrial capacity, and help transform Jamnagar into a global green energy hub, placing the coastal town at the centre of India’s clean energy ambitions. He also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for positioning India as a rising global power.

From energy, the focus moved naturally to technology, another pillar of the company’s Gujarat roadmap. Ambani unveiled Jio’s AI platform, aimed at offering AI services in regional languages, starting from Gujarat.

The initiative includes India’s largest AI-ready data centre in Jamnagar. “The platform will enable every citizen to access AI on their own device, in their own language, and every day, making them more productive and efficient,” Ambani was quoted as saying.

The emphasis on energy-led growth was echoed by the next announcement, extending the investment narrative beyond Reliance. Adani Ports and SEZ Managing Director Karan Adani announced a Rs 1.5 trillion investment in Mundra over the next five years to build the world’s largest energy park with a capacity of 37 gigawatts.

He said Kutch has emerged as India’s largest energy hub and reaffirmed the group’s commitment to the Viksit Bharat @2047 vision, underscoring how the region has become central to the country’s energy plans.

With energy and infrastructure in focus, attention then shifted to manufacturing, where scale and self-reliance were central themes. Jyoti CNC Chairman Parakramsinh Jadeja pledged Rs 100 billion over five years for manufacturing, research and development, and skill development, supplying advanced machinery for aerospace and defence to strengthen India’s self-reliance.

The manufacturing push was reinforced by Welspun Group Chairman BK Goenka, who announced a Rs 50 billion investment to set up the world’s largest pipeline manufacturing plant in Gujarat. He spoke of Kutch’s journey from a water-scarce region to a major industrial centre, reflecting the structural change underway in the region.

Taken together, the announcements traced a clear arc (from energy and technology to manufacturing) showing how Gujarat is positioning itself across multiple growth engines at once.

The Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for Kutch and Saurashtra, where these commitments were made, opened at Marwadi University in Rajkot with the aim of turning the vision of “Viksit Gujarat se Viksit Bharat” into action.
