Vadodara police have arrested three members, including a minor, of the ‘Bat Gang’, a burglary ring known for posing as balloon sellers by day and turning into thieves by night.
The arrests were made following a series of thefts across the Manjalpur and Makarpura areas of Vadodara.
Late-night surveillance and CCTV analysis led Manjalpur police to the suspects near Susan Circle, where they were found carrying a school bag filled with burglary tools, including iron rod cutters, lock breakers, and slingshots.
According to police, the gang operates in a highly organised manner. One group scouts locked houses during the day while selling balloons. At night, another group breaks in, and a third ensures a swift getaway with the stolen goods—allowing the gang to minimize risk and avoid full exposure in any one operation.
Those arrested are: Devraj Solanki, Kabir Solanki, and a juvenile accomplice. They have confessed to four thefts in the city. They are in police custody.
Four other members of the gang are still on the run. The search is on.
Investigation has revealed that the gang hails from Madhya Pradesh and has a criminal history, including charges of attempted murder and intimidation of police. Members are recognised internally by bat tattoos inked on their chests.
