In a tragic incident, eight people lost lives as vehicles plunged into river after Mujpur Gambhira bridge collapse in Padra taluka of Vadodara district on Wednesday morning.
Pictures reveal Mujpur Gambhira bridge breaking into two pieces. Initial reports indicate that about seven vehicles plunged into river Mahisagar.
Five people have been rescued and the search operation is on. Local residents are helping in a big way in the rescue operations.
The death toll is likely to increase.
According to information, the complaints about this dilapidated over 30-year-old bridge had fallen on deaf ears.
Opposition leader in the state assembly, Amit Chavda, has lambasted the state government for the gross negligence.
Gujarat unit president of Aam Aadmi Party, Isudan Ghadvi, called for an impartial inquiry and alleged that in the BJP’s regime people fear going near the bridges.
