Continuing its’ journey accelerating infrastructure projects, the Gujarat Government here on Monday approved a massive amount of Rs 3768 Crores for various development projects in seven municipal corporations and 12 municipalities as part of the Urban Development Year–2025. The projects fall under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana.
According to an official government communique, this includes ₹2,940 crore for 252 works in Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, ₹455 crore for 349 works in Vadodara Municipal Corporation, ₹367 crore for 302 works in Rajkot, and ₹6.2 crore for 11 works in the newly formed Porbandar Municipal Corporation.
Projects worth ₹219 crore have been approved for the construction of urban roads, Iconic Roads and Gaurav Paths. This includes ₹136 crore for Rajkot Municipal Corporation, ₹15 crore for Morbi Municipal Corporation, ₹13 crore for Nadiad Municipal Corporation, ₹17.76 crore for Una Municipality, ₹19.28 crore for Halvad Municipality and ₹5 crore for Khambhaliya Municipality.
The funds will be used for ongoing and new civic infrastructure projects in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Gandhinagar, Morbi, Porbandar, Nadiad, and several municipalities including Visnagar, Borsad, Viramgam, Patan, Amod, Una, Halvad, Khambhaliya, Savarkundla, Dhanera, and Veraval. The Urban Development Year initiative, launched in 2005, marks 20 years in 2025.
Besides the above allocation, ₹61.64 crore has been allocated to Morbi Municipal Corporation, ₹19.28 crore to Savarkundla Municipality and ₹11.31 crore to Dhanera Municipality. An amount of ₹82 crore has been allocated for outgrowth area development, with ₹80 crore going to Rajkot and ₹2 crore to Patan. Additionally, ₹14 crore has been approved for projects in Veraval-Patan and Amod municipalities. Under the Khaangi Society Janbhagidari Yojana, ₹2.72 crore has been sanctioned for Visnagar, Borsad, and Viramgam municipalities.
