In a horrifying incident, a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped and an iron rod was inserted into her private parts in a village in Rajkot district.
The village falls under the jurisdiction of Rajkot Police Station.
The accused, Ramsingh, a father of three, has been arrested. He is 35-year-old.
According to information, the girl, under treatment, is stable.
The police told media persons that the accused abducted the girl on December 4. He abducted her when her parents were working in a farm. He then took her to a secluded spot, gagged and assaulted her.
He is alleged to have inserted one feet iron rod into her private parts.
She was found bleeding profusely by her parents who were searching for her. She is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Rajkot.
Once the hospital informed the police, at least 10 teams were formed and police personnel fanned out in the area. CCTV footages were taken from different locations. Location of the mobiles were also traced.
Vijaysinh Gurjar, superintendent of police Rajkot Rural, told reporters that the police made a list of 140 suspects and then narrowed down on 10 individuals. The victim was shown the photographs of those individuals with the help of her parents, female police and a counsellor. She identified one person.
Gurjar further said that during interrogation Ramsingh confessed to have committed the crime. According to Gurjar, the accused attempted to sexually assault the girl near a field on December 4 morning. When he failed, he flew into rage and injured the girl with the rod, Gurjar added.
Ramsingh is a native of Alirajpur in Madhya Pradesh and was working as a farm labourer for the last two years.
The victim’s family belongs to Dahod and are in Saurashtra region to work as agricultural labourers.
Police have registered an offence under BNS Section 65 (2) and POSCO Act Sections 5 (1), 5 (M) and 6 (1) on Monday night. The victim’s father is the complainant in the case.
Meanwhile, a 15-year-old girl studying in grade X was allegedly raped on a moving bus by a 19-year-old DJ services provider. She had reportedly befriended him on Instagram.
The complaint was lodged at Bhaktinagar Police Station in Rajkot district.
