In a commendable move by the Gujarat’s Forest Department, a man has been arrested after he went close to a lion who was having a prey. The man, was arrested after a video surfaced on social media. The incident occurred in Bhavnagar. The lion threated the man but was kind not to pounce upon him and kill him.
The video shows the man going near the lion to record a video. The lion who is enjoying his meal after possibly a hunt looks evidently disturbed and growls. Despite the lion’s roars, the man continued his irresponsible act of filming the lion.
The man reportedly confessed that he was doing it all for likes and more followers on his social media account. Netizens scoffed his irresponsible behaviour and called him foolish.
The incident happened in the Sim area between Bambhor and Talli villages in the Talaja region of Bhavnagar district. Gujarat government’s forest department officials arrested Gautam after his video went viral.
It must be recalled that last year a 23-year-old man was killed by a wild elephant in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli while attempting to take a selfie with the animal. The incident took place on Thursday in a forest in Gadchiroli. The victim, identified as Shashikant Ramchandra Satre from Navegaon in Chandrapur district, had travelled to Gadchiroli with colleagues for cable-laying work in the forest division.
“The lion would have easily finished him but it showed kindness,” commented another.
“He must be fined and stopped from going to such places,” wrote a third user.
