A month after monsoon set in, Gujarat has received over 51 per cent of its average annual rainfall.
As per the data of the, State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), Gujarat has received 450.55 mm rainfall, which is 51.09 per cent of its average annual rainfall for the season.
South Gujarat has recorded the highest rainfall with 822 mm, completing 55.19 per cent of its seasonal average. East Central and Saurashtra regions both received around 49.26 per cent of average rainfall, with 396.50 mm and 368.31 mm respectively, while North Gujarat followed closely with 345.12 mm, amounting to 48.01 per cent of its annual average.
The Kutch region has received 282.50 mm of rain so far, completing 58.46 per cent of its average seasonal rainfall
Among the districts, Botad and Bhavnagar are the only two that have recorded over 75 per cent of their seasonal average rainfall. Meanwhile, Kutch, Surendranagar, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Anand, Panchmahal, Chhota Udepur, Bharuch, Narmada, Surat, Tapi, and Valsad have all received average rainfall ranging between 50 per cent and 75 per cent.
The remaining districts have recorded over 25 per cent of their average rainfall so far.
The SEOC report also mentions that among the districts, Valsad has received the highest amount of rain at nearly 1,194 mm, followed by Dang with 1,083 mm. Other districts among the top five in rainfall are Navsari (916.17 mm), Surat (902.00 mm), and Tapi (875.57 mm) — all located in the South Gujarat region.
Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department has said that light to moderate rainfall accompanied by lightning and surface winds of 30–40 kmph is likely to occur at isolated to a few places across all 33 districts of Gujarat till July 22.
