In Surat’s Limbayat area, a mother has lodged a rape complaint against a 15-year-old boy, accusing him of assaulting her 13-year-old daughter two months prior. The boy allegedly threatened the girl with death, leading her to keep the incident a secret.
However, when the boy attempted to repeat his actions, the girl confided in her mother. The police have since registered a case of rape and criminal intimidation under the IPC and POCSO Act.
The details of the case reveal that on January 27, the mother returned from work to find her daughter in tears. Upon inquiry, the daughter revealed that two months ago, when they were alone at home, the boy, who is an acquaintance of the mother, had visited their house. The mother, unaware of his intentions, had allowed him inside and offered him water.
The boy then allegedly locked the door and raped the girl. Post the assault, he threatened to kill her and her younger sibling. On January 27, while the mother was at work, the boy approached the girl in their residential society and asked her to send her brother away as he wanted to visit their house again. This led to the girl becoming scared and breaking down in tears.
The Limbayat police are currently investigating the case further. In accordance with the Supreme Court guidelines on sexual assault cases, the identity of the victim has been kept confidential to protect her privacy.
