Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched a strong criticism against the Congress-RJD alliance during a virtual address to women entrepreneurs in Bihar, alleging that offensive language was used against his late mother from a stage associated with the Opposition bloc.
He claimed the remarks were not just a personal insult but an affront to mothers and sisters across the country.
“In Bihar, abusive language was used for my mother from a Congress-RJD stage. This was not just an insult to my mother, but to every mother and sister in India,” said PM Modi.
He was inaugurating the Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh Limited, a cooperative aimed at providing easier financial access to women entrepreneurs in the state.
Addressing nearly 20 lakh women via video conferencing, the Prime Minister recalled the hardships his mother, Hirba, faced in raising her children. “My mother battled poverty throughout her life. Despite being unwell, she continued to work, saving every penny for our needs. There are crores of such mothers in our country, whose sacrifices often go unnoticed. In our culture, a mother holds a position even higher than the gods,” he said.
Referring to the remarks allegedly made at an Opposition rally, he said, “This wasn’t just an insult to one mother. It reflects a mindset that fails to understand the struggles of underprivileged families. Those born in political dynasties and raised with privilege will never grasp the pain of a poor mother or her child’s journey.”
In a veiled attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav—both from prominent political families—Modi added, “The naamdars (dynasts) can’t seem to accept that a common man’s son has become the country’s pradhan sevak (chief servant). They believe power in Bihar belongs only to their families.”
He further accused Opposition leaders of repeatedly using derogatory language against him. “They’ve called me neech (lowly), gandi nali ka keeda (gutter insect), a snake, and now, they’ve begun addressing me as ‘tu’—a disrespectful term in our culture,” Modi said, alluding to Rahul Gandhi’s recent speech where informal language was used.
A video from Darbhanga, Bihar, has gone viral showing a group of young individuals shouting abuses against the Prime Minister on a stage featuring images of Gandhi and Yadav. Congress supporters with party flags were also visible near the stage.
