The much-anticipated wedding of Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal has been indefinitely postponed following a sudden family emergency.
Smriti’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, suffered a heart attack on Sunday morning while preparations were underway at the Mandhana Farm House in Samdol, Sangli, confirmed her business manager, Tuhin Mishra.
He was immediately taken to a private hospital in Sangli, where he is undergoing urgent treatment. Smriti and her family rushed to the hospital as soon as they received the news. According to the family, his condition is currently stable and he is under observation, bringing some relief amid the distress.
Wedding organisers formally announced that the ceremony scheduled for the day has been called off. A new date has not yet been decided.
Sharing details of the incident, Smriti’s manager said that the cricketer’s father began feeling unwell during breakfast. Initially, the family hoped it was a minor ailment, but as his condition worsened, they arranged for an ambulance without delay. “He is now under observation,” Mishra said.
He further added that Smriti, who is extremely close to her father, decided to postpone the wedding until he fully recovers. Decorations at the Samdol venue are already being removed, and the families have requested privacy while they focus on his health.
Smriti and Palash were scheduled to marry on November 23 in Sangli, Maharashtra, in the presence of close family members, friends, and several of Smriti’s teammates from the Women’s World Cup-winning Indian cricket squad. In recent days, photos and videos of their vibrant pre-wedding celebrations—including Haldi, Mehendi, and friendly cricket matches between the bride and groom’s teams—had gone viral on social media.
