By attaching a crisp ₹500 note to the answer sheet, a Class 12th student from the Science stream, whose name remains anonymous, tried to lure the examiner into passing him. However, the Gujarat board has denied the student from taking board exams for the following year. They also had his present exam graded as a ‘fail.’
Top board officials claimed that students smuggled cash into answer papers for university exams. However, such a desperate measure is less typical among school students.
The Class 12th student from central Gujarat decided to take a chance because he was uncertain of his performance in the papers. He stapled a ₹500 bill with the sheet and asked the examiner to “please pass him” during the board exam.
During the answer sheet evaluation, Professors noted staples currency with the physics and chemistry papers. The Gujarat Secondary Education Board’s examination reforms committee requested an explanation from the student after the procedure, which resulted in the student failing the papers.
“The child said he heard rumours that if a student staples money in the answer sheet, there is a possibility that he may pass. He said he had no idea that doing this would be considered bribing the examiner,” a senior board representative said.
The student said his parents had even enrolled him in a local tuition class. However, he comes from a middle-class family.
Despite this, he struggled to prepare for the examinations and was uneasy about how he would do. According to sources, the student’s performance was not utterly appalling. His score in both areas may have ranged from 27 to 29. “He might have passed with grace marks if he hadn’t tried to bribe the paper-assessing teacher,” the insider claimed.
