BJP Steals Elections, Vote Chor Must Go: Rahul Gandhi in Gujarat

| Updated: September 13, 2025 14:49

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has welcomed PM Narendra Modi’s decision to visit strife torn Manipur but re-iterated that vote theft, Vote Chori is the biggest issue with citizens across India raising their voice against the BJP lead government.

Interacting with the media outside the Keshod airport in Gujarat’s Junagadh district, Mr. Gandhi claimed that citizens across India are raising the “vote chor” (vote thief) slogan.

Manipur has been in trouble for a long time and the PM has decided to go there now. It is good that he is finally going to Manipur. But the main issue today in India is ‘vote chori’, Rahul Gandhi said.

He further alleged electoral malpractice by the ruling BJP, citing recent State elections. “They stole the elections of Haryana and Maharashtra. We proved that in Karnataka recently. So, the main issue is vote theft. Everywhere people are raising ‘vote chor’ slogan,” the former Congress president said.

Mr. Modi is scheduled to visit Manipur today, his first since ethnic violence erupted in the State over two years ago. During his visit, he is expected to interact with internally displaced people in Churachandpur and the State capital, Imphal.

Mr. Gandhi was in Junagadh to address a Congress training camp. The event, part of the party’s ‘Sangathan Srujan Abhiyan’ (campaign to strengthen the organisation), is being held from September 10 to 19 and was inaugurated by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday. The pilot project has been rolled out in Gujarat.

According to Gujarat Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi, Mr. Gandhi addressed district and city unit presidents and interacted with senior party leaders for nearly three hours before departing for Delhi.
