An FIR has been registered against a relative of a 13-year-old Dalit girl who was allegedly raped and killed by the relative. The police has arrested the accused and said that the matter is being investigated.
As per the girl’s father, the accused claimed that the cause for the girl’s death was her illness however after the post-mortem report, it was revealed from several injuries on her face and private parts that she was raped. The victim’s father is a daily wage worker, he had allowed his daughter to go with the accused Praveen to work at his home in Gurgaon.
The father stated in the FIR that the landlord’s wife told him that her brother had a younger daughter and my daughter can play with her and stay with the family for some time. So she took her on July 17. Around 3 pm on August 23, he received a call from the landlord saying his daughter had died of food poisoning. After four hours, Praveen, and his wife took the girl to Delhi hospital in a private ambulance.
Doctors at Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital, where the post-mortem was conducted, stated in the report that the girl died of “asphyxia consequent upon antemortem manual smothering”. The report stated that there is “positive evidence of vaginal and anal sexual assault” with all injuries being “antemortem” and “recent in duration”.
