Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the government has announced a major reshuffle in the police department. A total of 65 Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) have been transferred and 8 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, who recently completed their training in Hyderabad, have been assigned their new postings.
The reshuffle, which has been anticipated for some time, also saw 5 IPS officers being placed on the waiting list. Among those transferred are DSP Milap Patel and DSP Jitu Yadav of Cyber Crime from Ahmedabad, a city that holds strategic importance in the state.
The reshuffle is not just limited to the DSPs. There is still anticipation of further transfers among the IPS officers. In the coming time, the focus is on the promotion of Inspector General (IG) rank officers to Additional Director General (ADG) and the transfer of a large part of senior IPS officers. The transfer of the Surat Police Commissioner is also on the cards.
