As monsoon season continues to prevail in Gujarat, the Beas river is also experiencing high water flow. On Wednesday morning, there was heavy rainfall in the Dantiwad area of Banaskantha between 6 AM to 10 AM. Due to the heavy showers, the Palanpur-Abu road flooded and had to be closed from one side.
The vehicles continue to pass from the other side. However, even small automobiles should stay back until the flooded water vacates the highways. The authorities have also put a crane to help the stuck vehicles and to clear the roads.
Further, other roads that have been closed due to the waterlogging in Banaskantha are Bhildi-Balodhar Road, Bhildi-Nesdas Peplu Road, National Highway to Kanwal Road, State Highway to Kanwal Road, New Bhildi to Old Nesda To Kanwal Big Road, Paldi-Vadlapur Road, Kansari-Shesura Road, Peparal-Ganta Road, Lakhni, Gordha to Chhatrala Road, Chhapi-Kotdi Road, Changa-Basu Road, Moria-Nagal Road, Basu-Jeblapura Road, and Pirojpura to Dungariapura.
The Dantiwada dam is also at the risk of overflowing and flooding the neighbouring villages. On Wednesday at 11 AM, around 66 thousand cusecs of water raised the dam’s water levels. Due to the rainfall, the water level in the dam has reached 577.2 feet.
Dantiwada received an average rainfall of 6 inches between 6 AM to 10 AM. Further, Palanpur and Suigam recorded three inches of rain. Deesa, Amirgarh, Tharad, Kakrej, and Wawa regions also received substantial rains in the past few hours.
