State BJP’s Top Brass Plan Damage Control To Take Stock Of The Situation Ahead Of Elections

In a bid to control the on-going demonstrations and parades against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), senior party members of the state have decided to plan and take damage control measures ahead of state assembly elections due to be held in December this year.

The state administration has launched section-144 from September 3rd to September 17th at various specified regions.

Stringent actions will be taken by the Additional District Magistrate against those who will be involved in any kind of procession and demonstrations within the mentioned areas.

Lately, people from all walks of life- Health workers, ex-servicemen, government union employees, anti-drug activists and other agitators held protests against the government.

Section -144 has been launched from September 3rd to September 17th to avoid any kind of gathering in Gandhinagar district. This section prohibits gathering of four or more people in the concerned areas and one cannot hold any demonstrations within the specified regions.

The Additional District Magistrate of Gandhinagar, Ms RD Singh said, “Gandhinagar is the capital of Gujarat. It comprises all the premier official premises and residences- Vidhan Sabha, Secretariat, Raj Bhavan, Ministerial residences, Office of Heads of Departments, Udyog Bhavan, Bahumali Bhavan, MLA residences, Schools and Colleges.”

Of late, the state capital is gradually becoming the hub for all kinds of demonstrations. People from across different backgrounds have flocked to protest in Gandhinagar. A high-profile meeting is being attended by the dignitaries across various diverse divisions. And, this is why it is important to keep law and order in place.”

This section 144, will not be applicable on the employees, working under state and government services; home-guards; any matrimonial obligations or to conduct last ceremonial rights.

Besides, this section would also not be applicable to the matters concerning the emergency cases, senior or junior executive magistrates and police personnel.

Stating the guidelines of the launch of section 144, the official stated, “A specified guidelines have been maintained to control the speeding traffic. For all government-sponsored programmes, certain areas have been spotted- Mahatma Mandir in Sector-13, Townhall in Sector-17, Staff Training College in Sector-17 and Circuit House in Gandhinagar. Those who will violate the conditions will be held accountable under section 135.”
