The Maharashtra government has issued a notification allowing voters from Gujarat working in the state’s border districts to vote in the upcoming assembly elections, an official said on Tuesday.
The state Assembly elections will be held in Gujarat in two phases on December 1 and 5. As per the notification issued by the state industries, energy, and labour department, the decision is applicable to all private, and semi-private companies, organisations and institutions.
According to the announcement, Gujarati residents who work in Maharashtra and want to vote in the upcoming election in the neighboring state may do so on a day’s paid leave. Voters from Gujarat who work in border districts like Nashik, Palghar, Dhule, and Nandurbar have received the concession.
