Despite Gujarat University (GU) issuing notice to vacate the residential quarters to as many as eight illegal occupants in its premises and warning them to vacate them latest by Thursday, only one of them has done so. Two others have sought a few months’ extension, but a majority of them have not bothered to take the notice seriously.
It was after executive council member, Shaktisinh Chanchu’s objections against illegal occupants that the varsity’s estate department issued notices to the illegal occupants. Chanchu had also written a letter to the GU authorities raising the issue of former PhD students, who have not vacated the quarters allotted them even after 3-4 years of completing the degree.
Chanchu along with the GU’s estate department is preparing for further actions against the illegal occupants if they do not vacate the premises.
