Just prior to commencement of the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Summit which will be held in January-2024, 23 MOUs for investment worth Rs. 1 lakh crore are signed on a single day. The potential investment in various important sectors like power, port, auto industry, industrial parks, textiles and apparel, education as well as agro and food processing industries is likely generate employment of 70,000 jobs.
In the run-up for the the Vibrant Gujarat Summit, the Gujarat government has planned signing MOUs with various industrial sectors every week. In this series, 13 so far, 77 MOUs worth Rs.35,000 crore investment have been signed. In the 14th week, 23 MoUs with Rs. Potential investments of 1 lakh crore have been signed. With this, the number of MOUs signed have reached 100 MoU with investment proposals of Rs. 1.35 lakh crore.
The industries inking the MOU are expected to have their units operational between 2525 to 2030. The geographical span of the industries to be established is vast, covering many districts such as Devbhoomi Dwarka, Jamnagar, Kutch, Salaya,nAmreli, Valsad, Hazira, Morbi, Dholka and Surendranagar apart Rajkot, Vadodara, Mehsana and Ahmedabad.
Port and port related sectors where investment is estimated at Rs. 27,271, crores, is aiming to generate 10,100 jobs. Power sector, luring investment of Rs. 45,600 crores might create 5,500 jobs.Similarly, with 4,000 crore investment, mineral based projects and with Rs. 13,070 crore investment Auto engnieering and anciliary industires will create 2,000 and 8,150 jobs respectively.
The promised investment of Rs. 4,469 crore in the industrial parks, textiles and apparel and chemical and petrochemical sector is likely to create whopping 34,650 jobs in future. Education sector is poised to bring in 8,200 jobs with an estimated investment of Rs. 3,100 crore. The agro and food processing industry will generate employment for 1,290 persons with an estimated investment of Rs.3500 crore
Industries Minister Balwantsinh Rajput, Agriculture Minister Raghavji Patel and Minister of State for Industries Harsh Sanghvi remained present at the event. Gujarat Chief Secretary Rajkumar, Additional Chief Secretary Industries Department S.J.Haider, M.K.Das and senior secretaries and several industrialists were present on the signing occasion. Also present was Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister K.Kailasanathan.
