Narol Father Fatally Attacked Over Son’s Marriage Against Family’s Wishes

| Updated: November 1, 2025 16:58

A sanitation worker from Narol was killed by the relatives of the woman his younger son had married. The incident reportedly occurred near Usmanpura metro station in the afternoon.

According to the FIR registered with Naranpura police, Bhailal Vaghela and his wife were assaulted while cleaning a street.

A news report claimed that their elder son had dropped them off at the location around 3 pm.

The in-laws of their younger son, Sunny, arrived and began abusing them with casteist slurs and hitting them with sticks.

Commuters intervened and rescued the couple, who then returned home in a state of shock.

Vaghela’s health declined rapidly. He was rushed to LG Hospital in Maninagar, but succumbed to injuries.

A medico-legal case was filed before the police were informed about the death, the report added.

The accused, who belong to a different caste, were enraged because Vaghela’s son married a woman from their family against their wishes.

The woman’s family had allegedly been against her relationship with Sunny and had even threatened them. The victim’s family said that the accused had earlier threatened them and demanded that their daughter be sent back.

On Friday, Naranpura police registered a case of murder and abetment and arrested six people. The accused have been identified as Raju Parmar, Mahesh Parmar (bride’s uncle), Lili Parmar, Kalavati Parmar, Jyoti, Mahesh Parmar (bride’s brother-in-law), and Prem Parmar.

Inspector VJ Chavda of Naranpura police said five of the accused have been arrested.

Jyoti is still absconding.

Chavda added that the attack stemmed from resentment over a woman from their family marrying a man who belongs to a Dalit community.

Police have registered offences under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections for murder, abetment, and under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Further investigation into this horrifying incident is ongoing.
