Gujarat BJP Leader’s Cryptic Post Leaves Tongues Wagging

| Updated: November 5, 2025 18:48

Bharatiya Janata party’s Gujarat unit got a new president last month. Soon thereafter, the state got a new cabinet. However, it seems not all is well within the party.

A recent social media post by Dilip Sanghani, chairman of Indian Farmers Fertilisers Cooperative Limited, has left many tongues wagging.

In an oblique reference to an incident that happened in 2024, Sanghani said, “Dikrina Nihapa Lagya.” This loosely translates into these are consequences of the trouble faced by the daughter.

In 2024, one BJP leader Manish Vaghasia, two others and one Patidar girl, Payal Goti, were arrested for allegedly writing a letter against BJP leader Kaushik Vekaria. The letter alleged that Vekaria was taking bribes. Vekaria is now a minister in the Bhupendra Patel led government in Gujarat. He was inducted in the cabinet last month.

Payal was paraded on the streets of Amreli and the police termed it as reconstructing the scene. Payal was a computer operator in Vaghasia’s office. She had told the police that she drafted the letter on Vaghasia’s instructions. She also went to hand over the letter to a courier company.

She was then granted bail.

Vaghasia had alleged that the letter was written on the instructions of Sanghani. The IFFCO chairman, however, had denied the charges and even expressed willingness to undergo a narco test, if required.

He had also called on Payal and offered her a job.

Efforts of a section of the media to get Sanghani’s reactions proved futile.

In the meantime, political circles are abuzz with theories. The grapevine is that by giving an oblique reference to the incident, Sanghani was trying to point towards the unseasonal rains in the state that have wreaked havoc on the farmers, leading to losses running into crores of rupees.

There has been a growing demand and pressure on the state government to announce an unprecedented relief package.

There is also a talk in the political circles that perhaps Sanghani was referring to how all ministers, except the chief minister, had to resign and in the new cabinet majority of them were shown the doors.

Some say his cryptic post is perhaps referring to internal bickering in several district units of the state party.

Well, only Sanghani knows what he was trying to say.
