On Monday, the Class 12 results were declared by the state authorities, and after that, a wave of congratulations for the top students and discussions about where to get admission started. But amid this, a shocking incident was reported in Gandhinagar.
As per media reports, not getting good marks caused students to take extreme steps, such as deciding to end their own lives. And not just one, but two similar incidents have been reported since the Class 12 results came out. However, along with that, the active cops’ swift action prevented such incidents.
In the first case, a girl from Gandhinagar was distressed because she failed to pass the examination and was standing at the edge of the canal on Monday, reportedly after the results were announced. Whereas in the second case, on Tuesday, a girl resident of Naroda was so disappointed with her marks that she felt there was no point in living.
Miraculously, during patrolling, the police team noticed some suspicious movement, and the team approached the girls and rescued them from the Narmada Canal located near Gandhinagar.
After being approached and during interaction, both the girls broke down and spoke about being disappointed with their results.
The local police have been deployed in the areas and are carrying out frequent patrolling efforts to prevent such incidents. But such incidents highlight that students are under such high pressure that, after not getting the anticipated results, they are ready to take such extreme steps.
