A woman passenger delivered a baby girl aboard the Jabalpur-Somnath Express after she went into labour while the train was travelling between Ahmedabad and Viramgam, as per reports.
The woman, who was reportedly travelling with her husband began experiencing labour pain shortly after the train departed from Ahmedabad station.
After the woman went into labour on the train, her husband and fellow passengers reportedly alerted the railways staff on duty. According to Western Railway’s Bhavnagar division, Ticket checker Kumar immediately informed the commercial control office and arranged bedsheets and other essential assistance. Women passengers came forward and helped the woman who gave birth to a healthy child.
Following the delivery, railway authorities coordinated medical assistance in advance of the train’s arrival at Viramgam station. An ambulance and medical team were kept ready, and with the consent of the woman’s husband, both mother and newborn were taken to the government hospital in Viramgam for further examination and care.
As per reports, the doctors later confirmed that both were in stable condition. Railway officials said the ticket examiner continued to assist the family after the birth, arranging refreshments and maintaining communication with control staff to ensure timely medical support.
