The 5th Edition of Abhivyakti – The City Arts Project – by the UNM Foundation of Torrent Group has brought together the shining stars from the universe of artists at the doorstep of art lovers of Ahmedabad. On Tuesday evening, the art admirers enjoyed the enthralling performances of folk music weaved with Kabir’s life philosophy, mesmerizing dance performances accompanied with science-fiction musical drama.
Important Highlights
- Ravi Maru and Rajan Panchal (Ravi-Ranjan) presented a musical Sufi fusion performance on the theme of “Kabir Tatva”, showcasing the timeless and ageless life teachings of Kabir through the lens of folk music.
- Kavish Seth, a renowned face in Hindustani music, presented a blend of songs, poetry, and ‘rasms’ in his gripping performance “Swavidhaan”.
- Vishal Chauhan, a writer, director, and actor presented Metamorphosis in motion: A Dance Production Inspired by Franz Kafka’s Masterpiece book, “The Metamorphosis”.
- Manipuri dancer duo Kankana Singh and Parna Chakraborty enthralled the audience with their unique concept of narration of Rig Veda’s Nasadiya Sukta through dance movements in their performance “Nasadiya: The Meandering Energy”.
- Manansh Desai presented “Dream Happy Dream” Impanting Hope in a Dystopian World: A Glimpse into a Future of Authentic Memories, a futuristic tale set 60 years ahead.
Visual Art Installations
The 5th Edition of Abhivyakti also featured a variety of visual art installations, including:
- “Album of Memories” by calligraphy artist Hiral Kaulav Bhagat, which drew inspiration from life experiences and used the rich tapestry of Gujarati language and proverbs to convey profound life lessons.
- “State of constant flux” by visual artist and educator Vruddhi Patel, which showcased the ever-changing nature of human emotions and thoughts.
- “Greenhouse Museum” by Damayanti Debnath, which told the stories of individuals who have centered their lives around nature, wildlife conservation, and sustainable living.

About Abhivyakti – The City Arts Project
Abhivyakti – The City Arts Project is an initiative of the UNM Foundation of Mehta Family of the Torrent Group, with the aim of making art an integral part of the social fabric. The project provides a free platform for artists of all genres to showcase their work to the public.
The fifth edition of Abhivyakti is being held from November 24th to December 10th, 2023. This year, 37 artists will present 106 performances. In addition, 50 visual art installations will be designed and set up by 50 artists.
