Sanand GIDC Industrial Association has signed an MoU with the Welfare Commissioner, Labour Welfare Board in order to provide accommodation to thousands of workers that are employed in the industrial zones. The agreement was concluded under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel with the aim of promoting the welfare of the labourers working in the state.
Through this agreement, the government plans to build a Shram Niketan Hostel, which will offer highly advanced facilities to the labourers in the state. The Hostel will be built in an area of 215 square meters and is expected to have six floors. It will offer single, double, and multiple occupancy rooms to the workers and their dependents. The hostel will house at least 1000 workers at any given time. The hostel will also have facilities like a labour welfare center, a multipurpose hall as well a dining hall.
The hostel will be a Public-Private Partnership project in collaboration with Sanand GIDC Industrial Association. The budget for this project, which is likely to be completed within two years, is set at around Rs10 crores.
This project will be very beneficial as the data shows that the industrial estates employ over 15000 workers. Considering that many of these workers come from different parts of the state and country, their living arrangements will be taken care of.
